Program Overview

Barbers are skilled professionals who provide essential services such as cutting, trimming, and styling hair; giving shaves; and grooming beards. They play a vital role in enhancing the personal appearance of their clients, mainly men, by staying up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in men’s grooming. Barbers not only cut and style hair but may also offer services such as facials and hairpiece fittings.

The Barber Crossover Program at 1st Academy of Beauty is designed to equip students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to pursue a successful career as a licensed barber. Whether you want to work in a traditional barbershop, a salon, or even open your own business, this program offers all the skills and training needed to excel in the barbering field.

What You’ll Learn

Haircuts and Styling: Learn how to cut, trim, and style hair to meet your clients’ preferences and trends.
Beard Grooming & Shaving: Master the art of trimming beards and performing shaves with a straight razor.
Hairpiece Fitting: Gain the skills to fit hairpieces and offer solutions to clients looking for hair restoration.
Facials and Scalp Treatments: Learn how to provide facials and scalp treatments as part of a complete grooming service.
Chemical Hair Treatments: Understand how to perform chemical services like perms and hair coloring to offer clients more options.
Client Communication: Build rapport with clients and ensure they are satisfied with your services.
Sanitation & Safety: Follow proper sanitation practices to maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Barbering (English): 200 Clock Hours CIP # 12.0401, SOC # 39-5011.

Program Type: Certificate Program (below college level)

Course Breakdown:

Classroom Instruction: 90 hours
Practical Training: 110 hours

Full-Time Schedule: 10 to 15 weeks to complete the program.
Flexible Learning: Up to 50 hours (25%) of the program.
